Funding Policy

At, it’s our mission to provide you with the most current, accurate and reliable health information online, customized for Africans. To support this mission, we accept advertising on our sites may sell products through our sites and third party sites. Being a Not-For-Profit organization, Health And Life Africa Healthy-living Initiative (HALA) has regularly sought to generate funding for our activities through diverse opportunities such as Free-will Donations, Grants, Luncheons, Sponsorships and Advertisements since its inception from relevant commercial organizations, individuals, manufacturers, and other industry leaders dedicated to providing health and lifestyle information.

Sponsorships, which are also a form of advertising, enable us to provide you with our high-quality content at no cost to you. HALA provides opportunities for sponsors to bring you their marketing message and information about their products and services by publishing their information or links within our site. We take several steps to ensure that you can clearly identify content that is provided by and is under the editorial control of our sponsors before you view it, so you can make an informed decision as to whether or not to view it.

The purpose of this funding policy is to help you easily differentiate between advertising and independent, editorial content on our sites. See our Editorial Policy.

A.     We do not endorse Products, Services, Treatment or Companies

HALA has not evaluated the products and services advertised on this site and we do not endorse any specific product, service or treatment. The fact that certain products and services are advertised on our site is not an endorsement of those products and services. We’ve established guidelines on how we label advertising so that you’ll know what is an advertisement and what is editorial content. We use clear language and visual cues to distinguish advertising from editorial content.

B.     Advertisements

“Advertisement” or “Sponsored” is used to label the most common forms of advertising on our site. The content of this form of advertising is controlled by the advertiser. Ads are labelled with the word “Advertisement” or “Sponsored” adjacent to the advertisement.

HALA Magazine Digital Ad

If you click on an advertisement, it will usually link to a site that is operated by the advertiser. We have no control over the advertiser’s site or the policies on that site. You should familiarize yourself with the terms of use, privacy policies or other policies applicable to those sites before using them.

HALA has sole discretion for determining the types of Advertising that will be accepted and displayed on the site, and under no circumstances will HALA’s acceptance of any Advertisement be considered an endorsement of the product(s) and/or service(s) advertised or for the company that advertises, manufactures, distributes, or promotes the products or services.

C.      Special Sections

This site may publish special sections on certain health and lifestyle topics. Advertisers may fund areas that contain independent, original editorial content that we created or selected. Other content on this site may be provided solely by or on behalf of an advertiser. To help indicate an advertiser’s involvement, such sections will typically be clearly identified with labels such as “Sponsored by”, “Brought to You by”, “Made Possible by”, “Funded by” or “Support Provided by” the advertiser/sponsor. We will also include a link on these pages to provide more details regarding an advertiser’s involvement with the content.

Also, HALA works with Government agencies and other organizations or associations whose primary mission is to educate the public on health topics or issues. Here, the specific topic area’s content is reviewed and edited by the third party and then edited and approved by HALA’s Editorial Team therefore, is subject to our editorial policy and process for accuracy, balance, and objectivity. Such sections will be clearly highlighted with a descriptive text at the top of the page and labelled as a “Collaboration” or “Educational Collaboration” with the participating organization.
